Message from Barry Murphy:
Howdy all,
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all of our regular customers at Charlie´s Bar, over the last 3 years. There are so many of you coming over a few times a year now that it´s becoming like a local at home. We nearly know who will be over in which week every month! I have noticed that there are very few nights all of us at Charlies wouldn´t recognise at least 30 people in the bar - and that amount is growing, thank God - and I thank you all for the atmosphere you all help us create night after night...
I am often asked "do I get sick of listening to the same band every night", and my reply is always totally honest, that every night is very different at Charlies. Unlike other bands, we all really love what we´re doing and look forward to going down to Charlies every night. When I look at other bands and the way other folk live, we are definitely a bunch of fruit cakes who were thrown together by some strange force, and are always up to mischief and blagarding.
Think about it:

Rory from Donegal

|

Sergi from Barcelona
Bass |

Jon from Galway
Acoustic/Vocals
|

Massimo from Rome
Rhythm Elec/Sax/Vocals |

Widgeon from Texas
Lead Electric/Vocals
|

Shaky from Dublin

|

...and meself from Cork
Spoons!!! |
It has been great to have welcomed the fantastic Sharon Shannon, Damien Dempsey, Aslan, Jon Kenny and The Wolfetones here at Charlie´s Bar, and we are already looking forward to having Sharon Shannon in February and Finbar Fury in March 2010 back again...
In the meantime, come and say hello to us at Charlies if you are over in Lanzarote. I am the tall langer from Cork, walking around with a pint of Guinness, or a confused look, wondering where I left my last pint - which I usually find in the safe keeping hands of Jon Gold, along with my spoons. ;)
Keep shouting up the requests whether it´s Snow Patrol, The Dubliners, The Killers, The Pogues, Thin Lizzy or Bon Jovi. We will sing any song in some language!
See you soon!
Barry Murphy
P.S.: We show All Major Sports in our lovely little cool watering hole the "Craic n´Ceól" in the Old Town of Puerto del Carmen.... |
